The six-pointed star had originally magical sense: it was hung on the walls to ward off evil spirits, and alchemists used it to represent the connection between heaven and earth. It was in the Prague s. XIV when the Jewish community joined this hexagram in the s. XIX was increasingly introduced in the synagogues and objects of worship. In 1890, the Zionist movement adopted the star of David as its emblem.
